Digital Safety
Technology can be used as a tool of control and abuse. This guide helps you protect your devices, digital privacy and online safety — step by step.
If you think your device is being monitored, access this site from a safe device (public library, a friend's phone) or clear your history after visiting.
The first step is securing your phones, tablets and computers.
- Set a strong PIN or password on all devices — avoid birthdays or easily guessed numbers.
- Enable automatic screen lock after 30 seconds of inactivity.
- Check which apps have access to your location: Settings → Privacy → Location. Revoke access for apps that don't need it.
- Look for unknown or suspicious apps installed on your phone — especially monitoring or parental control apps used without your consent.
- If you suspect your phone is compromised, contact a specialist or get a new device before making safety plans.
