Raise awareness. About abuse.
Learn to recognise the signs of abuse and share the information with those around you.
Learn about abuseWe are recruiting now: awareness events, October 2026 - October 2027
Organise awareness events in your area. Bring Lotus closer to people.
Between October 2026 and October 2027 we want to run awareness events about domestic abuse in every area of the UK, and we need local volunteers to make it happen. This is an unpaid, volunteer role, but its impact is real: every event can help a person recognise abuse and ask for help.
What it involves
- Finding and booking a local space: community centre, church, library, Romanian shop, school or online.
- Inviting the local Romanian community and putting up posters and materials provided by Lotus.
- Hosting a short session (1-2 hours) about the signs of abuse and how Lotus can help, with our support and materials, no prior experience needed.
- Handing out helpline cards and telling people how to reach us safely.
- Sending us a few words and photos after the event so we can share what your community achieved.
If you want to get involved, write to us at contact@lotusjusticesupport.uk and tell us which area of the UK you are in and how you can help: a space, contacts, presenting, promotion, anything counts.

What volunteering truly means
Volunteering is not just unpaid work. It is a conscious choice to give your time, energy and heart to people going through some of the hardest moments of their lives. Behind every request for help there is a real person, often frightened and alone, who needs to feel that someone truly cares.
- Responsibility and reliability. People rely on you. Turning up consistently matters more than grand gestures.
- Empathy without judgement. You listen with patience and respect, without criticising anyone's choices.
- Absolute confidentiality. What you learn stays strictly between you and the organisation. A person's safety can depend on it.
- Healthy boundaries. You help within your role and refer on to specialists when needed. You are not alone; the team is beside you.
- Real impact. Even a few hours can change someone's path towards safety and a new life.
We do not ask you to be perfect. We ask you to be present, human and trustworthy.
It takes about 5 minutes, one step at a time.
